Lead in Product Testing
Schneider Laboratories Global does testing for lead in dinnerware products. From you, we need half a teaspoon or half a gram (by weight) from the glazing or paint from all colors on any product including the clear white or porcelain on the product in a zip lock bag. Or you can send the plate or product and we can scrape it and return it to you at your expense if it's hazardous.
Bowls, mugs, or any product can be leached in vinegar (acetic acid) without destroying the product, bowl, mug, etc. Therefore, we can have you, the customer, pick it up or mail it to us via USPS if it is less than five pounds package at your expense. Credit cards or checks only!
The cost for either test (total lead/item or composite and leachable product) is $15.00 a sample for a five day turnaround time.
The FDA limit for leachable is 2PPM. The EPA limit for drinking water is 15 PPB, then a column pass or fail so we can make it easy for anyone to read and minimize their callbacks about the results. The new TCLP regulatory limit for total lead is 75PPM, and the California limit is at 0.1PPM for total lead.
Hazardous waste TCLP/lead is $35 a sample for a five day turnaround time. The TCLP limit for lead is 5PPM.
